Bristol

It's been quiet in recent days owing to a trip to Bristol to see my fiancée's brother and his wife. I'd never visited Bristol before, so I was suitably impressed.

Pictured is the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

  1. Fantastic bridge; and I have to say (and have said this numerous times) that I love Brunel, mostly because of his fantastic name. I actually walk past a Brunel statue on the way to work...

  2. Simon...
did Bristol remember me?...my 20's were spent there....wonderful memories. I must have crossed that bridge a 1000 times...I get back occasionally...The Clifton and Redland area have hardly changed.
I moved 3 times in 8 years...the flats all within 50 yards of each other. I didn't need a removal van...just a few willing friends. I gotta admit though...my wine back then was Liebfraumilch...girls and parties were the priority!

  3. Thanks for your comments, both of you. Yes, great bridge and great town. The waterfront looks good as well, though that's a recent development apparently.
But here's another thing: it's a very fresh and breezy 12 to 13 degrees celsius outside and people are walking about with just t-shirts or light jumpers on. Things like that always make me chuckle. As Billy Connolly once said, "There's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing".
